Gail Matthews McClure, age 76 of Florence, AL died Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Her family will receive friends Monday at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia from 12:30 until 2 p.m. following with the funeral service officiated by Carey Collum. Burial will follow in Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Gail was born in Tuscumbia and graduated from Deshler High School and Eastern Washington University. She was active in the Junior League in Virginia and the Children’s Hospital Guild in Richland, WA. She retired from the Department of Energy in Richland, before returning to the Shoals.
Gail was a beacon of light and lifted everyone to higher ground. Kindness and strength abides in her and will continue in her children and grandchildren. Gail has a loving and creative force. She was a gracious host who loved to cook and entertain. She never met a stranger, and was a role model for her four daughters and an inspiration to women. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Bea Stephens, Pullman,WA, Julia Shawn McDonough, Salt Lake City, UT, Mary Paige Jubran, Florence and Leslie Bethea McClure, Tuscaloosa; brother, Kenneth Matthews, Jr., Tuscumbia; sister, Phyllis Ruth Pickens, Huntsville; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
