Funeral services for Mrs. Gail Gilpin Wilson, age 78 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with Pastor Eric Camp and Rev. Wayne Hester officiating. Interment will follow in Millerville Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson left to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. Born and raised in Clay County, she graduated High School at Bibb Graves High School, Class of 1959, upon which she began working with the Clay County Board of Education as a School Bus Driver, and retired after over 30 years of service, and had also served as a substitute Teacher. Her Love and Faithfulness of the Lord was shown throughout her life. She loved her land, her greenhouse, and working with her flowers.
She is survived by two daughters: Pamela Wilson of Odenville, and Shannon Hallmark (Skip) of Talladega; two sons: Randy Camp (Tammy) and Warren Wilson (Martha), both of Ashland; one sister, Dyan Gilpin Perry of Ashland; 11 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren, and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe Howard Gilpin, and Buna Mae Milam Gilpin; her husband, James “Jimmy” Wilson, Sr.; one sister, Peggy Bohannon, and one infant brother.
Active Pallbearers will be: Cory Evitts, Kyle Evitts, Justin Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Jerry Bohannon, and Stanley Bryant.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 9:30 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.
