Memorial services for Mr. G.W. Skallion, age 77, will be held at 12 PM on Friday, February 28, 2025 in the Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 11 AM until service time.
Mr. Skallion, a buyer for Porter Cable and Rockwell, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Skallion was an avid golfer for 30+ years -member of Humboldt and Milan country club. He is a big time UTK fan and later in life when he could not attend games, he and his buddies would meet up to watch the game. He enjoyed sports so much that when you walked into the room he was watching sports, it did not matter what sport. Mr. Skallion also loved watching westerns and poking fun with others.
Mr. Skallion enjoyed spending quality time with family and loved to reminisce and tell stories over and over and over while talking with family, friends, and neighbors. He was a loyal and loving son who took care of his father and mother-would go up to the nursing home daily. He also loved his grandchildren endlessly and loved holding and loving on his great grandchildren who called him “Poppie”.
Mr. Skallion is survived by his wife Brenda Skallion; two daughters, Bethany Hughes (Tracy) of Cedar Grove and Lindsey Miller (Garrett) of Acton, MA; seven grandchildren, Arden Hughes, Alexander Hughes, Ethan Hughes (Lexi), Landon Hall, Tracy Hughes, Jacoby Miller and Reagan Miller; three great grandchildren, Ezra Hughes, Noah Hughes and Arabella Hughes; and foster great grandchildren.
