G.T. Hamilton, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Visitation will be on Monday, August 26, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be on Tuesday, August 27, at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Funeral Home with Greg Nelson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.
G.T. is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathleen Hamilton; son, Mark Hamilton (Rhonella); daughter, Lisha Felkins (Roger); granddaughters, Kristen Hamilton and Haley Finley (Morgan); great grandchildren, Stella Hamilton and Silas Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. Hamilton, Sr. and Sally Mae Hamilton of Hillsboro; granddaughter, Allyson Hamilton of Hillsboro; sister, Ela Sandy; brothers, G.B. Hamilton, Woodrow Hamilton, Jamie Hamilton, Leon Hamilton and Wayne Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton was a lifetime farmer, who loved anything that had to do with agriculture. He also owned and operated Hillsboro Gin Company in Hillsboro. G.T. was active in the community and helped anyone who needed assistance. He served on the Joe Wheeler Board for years and enjoyed all the friendships he made throughout the county. In the year 2000 he was chosen as Alabama’s Farmer of the year by Alfa.
G.T. loved his family and traveling. He was a member of Fishpond Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Butch Spears, Marlon Cottingham, Ray Bailey, Mike Gould, Steve Kelly, Mike Taylor, Greg Pitts, and Morgan Finley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Terry, Bu Letson, Jared Darnell, Heath Darnell, Craig Terry, Terry Rose, Ken Baggett, Jody Letson, and Jim Pitts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602, or your favorite charity.
