MUSCLE SHOALS – Everybody knows Wayne Chaney, it seems. Some of us who’ve been around the Muscle Shoals music scene can tell you that they’ve known Wayne for the better part of their lives. Back when this writer first knew Wayne, he had this band called “Wayne Chaney and the Links”. So a lot of people around town go way back with Wayne.
He has stage-managed for the biggest names in the business. Wayne sings. He can tear up a conga. And he kills with a trumpet. He has been there for practically every fundraiser that’s been held in the Shoals when he was in town. Helping out organize, stage manage, play, sing. Whatever it takes. Wayne has and will continue to be there.
There will be a fundraising benefit for Chaney, who has been diagnosed with a serious, but fortunately, treatable illness. The location is PJ’s Nightclub in Muscle Shoals. It happens this Thursday evening, August 29.
Wayne is a hero to many, many around here. This is a chance for everyone to give back a little.
