TUSCUMBIA– Some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the country will converge on Seven Springs Lodge in late April for six days of horseback riding, rodeo competitions, chuckwagon racing and fun.

Danny Foster, an owner of Seven Springs Lodge and Rattlesnake Saloon, said this year’s Frontier Days, April 23-28, will be jam-packed with fun things to see and do.

“It’s going to be non-stop excitement for the whole family,” Foster said. “There will be plenty of educational programs and activities for children. We will have a bull riding, a full rodeo, a  tough-cowgirl competition, trail rides, wagon racing, a turkey shoot, a bb gun shoot for kids, hatchet throwing, donkey penning and some great music. “It’s going to be the biggest event we’ve ever held at the lodge.” Seven Springs Lodge is located at 1292 Mt. Mills Road, Tuscumbia.

Susann Hamlin, President and CEO of Colbert County Tourism and Convention Bureau, said the huge crowds at Frontier Days will be a boom for the local economy.

Foster said an Indian artifacts appraiser will be on hand Saturday, April 27 at Frontier Days to appraise arrowheads and other artifacts from personal collections. “Anyone can bring up to eight items from their collection and find out how much they are worth.

He said craftsmen will be demonstrating arrowhead making, blacksmithing and other skills. There will be vendors and concessions will be available.

The activities begin Tuesday, April 23 with trail rides.

Bull riding is Friday, April 26. Foster said entry into the bull riding competition is open to the public. The rodeo and tough cowgirl competition – which includes riding, roping and shooting events – will be Saturday, April 27. Entry into the rodeo and tough cowgirl competitions is open to the public. The tough-cowgirl competition offers $1,000 to the winner.
