MONTGOMERY- In a year dedicated to “honoring our people,” the Alabama Bicentennial Commission has partnered with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to present Your Family Roots: A Summer of Discovery. The first event in the series of 13 features Bob Ives, co-founder and Executive Director of The Family History Guide Association (TFHG), at the Davis Theatre in Montgomery, AL on Saturday, June 2.
The workshops are a multi-site series held across the River Region during June and July 2018. Each event will be led by an acclaimed genealogy expert or research specialist and will be designed to offer insights, training and other opportunities to discover your ancestors.
Other presenters in the series include Daniel Horowitz (June 9), the genealogy expert from myheritage.com,; Nancy Dupree (June 30), Coordinator of the Research Room at the Alabama Department of Archives and History; and Frazine Taylor (July 21), author Researching African American Genealogy in Alabama: A Resource Guide. Topics in presentations range from preserving and researching family history to indexing and DNA testing as a research tool.
