Freddie Lane Johnson – Obituary

3013414Freddie Lane Johnson, 68, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Freddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army doing three tours in Vietnam. He was a highly decorated veteran, having been awarded the Silver Star, three Bronze stars, two Purple Hearts, three Vietnam Service pins, two Army Accommodations Medals, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and several others. He worked as an electrician, and was a man who loved his family dearly. He was a great husband, a wonderful dad, and loved to have fun.
The visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at noon Monday at Spry Memorial Chapel, with Bro. James McCullar and Bro. Mark McCullar officiating. Burial will be at Phil Campbell City Cemetery with full military honors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel Johnson and Carrie Edna Hand Johnson; brother, James Alfred Johnson; and sister of the heart, Norma Jean Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 38 years, Phillis Johnson; children, John Johnson, Laura Johnson Gann (husband, Jason), Dionna Johnson Tate (husband, Chris); grandchildren, Mia Gann, Makayla Gann, Gabrielle Tate, Alexandra Tate, Hannah Grace Tate; brother, Billy Wayne Johnson; sister of the heart, Barbara Mashburn; and several nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Dale Wright, Adam Crotts, Jonathan Crotts, Steve Smith, Johnny Fortenberry, and Roy Sutton. The honorary pallbearers will be Milton Ergle, Frankie Tidwell, and David Tidwell.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of North Alabama, and our nurses, Kesha, Mechelle, Nicole, Sandy, and Chaplain Mark McCullar for all the love and care shown towards our family.
