F.07.05.24 Freddie Hattabaugh.jpg  Freddie L. Hattabaugh, 82, of Ladson, SC, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024 surrounded by family. Fred was born on March 26, 1942, in Salem, IN, a son of the late Emmett Hattabaugh and Fern Miller Hattabaugh.

He married the love of his life, Margaret “Jane” Hattabaugh on May 26, 1963, and they spent 61 years together! Fred met Jane at the university he was attending and completed his undergraduate within three years in order to get married. Fred was the Dean of Education at Henderson State University and the University of Northern Alabama. In fact, he was one of the youngest deans to serve, beginning his career at 29 years old.

Fred enjoyed fishing, golfing, doing his Bible study, as well as scuba diving. He and Jane loved to travel, stepping foot in all 50 states! He also was an avid sports fan, especially watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball. Fred loved his family with all his heart with his proudest accomplishment being a wonderful Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to his family.

He is survived by his children: Mike Hattabaugh (Mary), Laura Corn (Scott), Marga Tabor (Hudson), and Nathan Hattabaugh; Grandchildren: Molly Hutchinson (Scott), Meghan Hattabaugh, Matthew Hattabaugh, Jeffrie Corn, Margaret Corn, William Tabor, Fredrick Tabor, Mila Tabor, Emmett Tabor, Anna Hattabaugh, Andy Hattabaugh, and Adam Hattabaugh; Great-Grandchildren, Lottie and Judah Hutchison; as well as his siblings: Larry Hattabaugh (Sue), Patty King, Helen Roberts (Barry), and Bill Clement, who has passed and his wife, Debbie.

A Visitation of family and friends will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Bethany UMC Spell Chapel, 118 W 3rd S St., Summerville, SC 29483, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Florida Memorial Gardens, 5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955, on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fred L. and Jane Hattabaugh Endowed Scholarship Fund at the University of North Alabama Foundation, UNA Box 5113 Florence, AL 35632.
