Graveside services for Mr. Fred Ronald Schoggins, age 79 of Lineville, was held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery at 4:00 P.M. with Bro. Jerry Brownlee and Bro. L.C. Harris officiating.

Mr. Schoggins passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Clay County, he graduated from Clay County High school in 1959. He served for many years in the Alabama National Guard, loved to fish and play guitar. He was a brick mason, and worked for Coca Cola Company for over 31 years in merchandising as a Route Salesman. He was the owner of Ronnie’s Green House and was a friend to many.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue Schoggins of Lineville; his daughter, Melinda Owen (Buzz) of Michigan; three sons: Chip Mattox (Denise), Michael Schoggins (Kelly), both of Ashland and Scott Hill of Lineville; his sister, Judy Walker (Clayton) of Ashland; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his beloved pet, “Puddin”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Schoggins and Lena Jones Schoggins; his son, Joel Schoggins; and two brothers: Bob and Paul Schoggins.

Pallbearers were John Pettus, Brian Campbell, Robert Schoggins, Doug Schoggins, Jeff Schoggins and Nathan Calhoun.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
