Fred Lewis Maxcy, 90, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born March 12, 1928, in the Bounds Crossroads community of Itawamba County, the youngest of 7 children born to Grover Cleveland and Rosey Alverson Maxcy. He owned and operated Maxcy’s Garage for 35 years where he was widely known as the best automatic transmission mechanic in Itawamba County. He was a Baptist in belief and a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and professional football.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 29, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with the Rev. Phillip Box officiating. His son, Jerry Maxcy, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Juanita Maxcy; his daughter, Jana Pitts (Ricky) of Pontotoc; his son, Jerry Maxcy (Carolyn) of Fulton; his step-daughter, Tina Harmon (Jerry) of Fulton; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hope Chilcoat Maxcy; his parents; his sisters, Earlene Russell and Evelyn Weeks; and his brothers, Murray, Charles, Clarence, and Rex Maxcy.
Pallbearers will be John Maxcy, Will Maxcy, Alex Webb, Eric Pitts, Adam Hopper, Patrick Bedgood, and Steve Maxcy.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
