Fred was born on November 14, 1945, and died March 9, 2023, at the age of 77 years old. He was the big brother and born protector of nine siblings. He was born in Harvey, Illinois.
Fred’s management career carried him from Alabama to Michigan, Georgia, Florida and later Wichita Falls, TX. He became the proud father of his children, Michael Jay in 1971 and Rachel Deann in 1977.
In Texas, he worked as a lineman in the oil fields followed by Carr Electric, Siemens, and Howmet.
In 1987, he moved back to Hazel Green, Alabama. Fred met and married Janice in 1988.
In 1989, Fred began work with Hispan/Hexcell for 20 years as a shift supervisor. Fred was known for his impeccable work ethic and being a hard worker. He was one of two employees that had perfect attendance for 20 years.
He retired in 2007 and enjoyed 2 years of retirement before returning to work in the MCSS district as a bus aide for special needs children. His love of those children earned him the name of Papa, Grandaddy and Mr. Fred.
After moving to their current address, he created an art studio for him and Janice to work in where she became his boss. He jokingly told everyone he had all kinds of titles but never got a paycheck. He loved his family, grandchildren, yard work, fishing, and his girls (the dogs).
He had plans to move to Foley, Al to the beach but those plans were cut short.
In addition to his wife Janice, he is survived by: son and daughter in law Michael J. and April Anderson, their children, Natalie and Nathan; his daughter and son in law Rachel and Michael Hall, their children Jon, Joe, James and Jude; son and daughter in law Danny and Lynn Rollins, their daughter Mary Danielle; grandson and wife Clay and Kayla Rollins; daughter and son in law Carrie and Rodney O’Barr, their children Hannah and Hayden; brothers: Chuck (Patti) Anderson, Steve (Loren) Anderson; sisters: Sherry Kelley and Marsha Staples.
