Fred Douglas Staten was born on March 28,1952 to the late Deacon Greenberry Harrison Staten and Viola NeSmith Staten. He was the seventh of fifteen children.
Fred confessed hope in Christ and joined St. Minor Primitive Baptist Church where he was a faithful member and devoted choir member. Fred attended Lakeview High School and graduated from Marshall County High School in Guntersville, Alabama in 1970. Fred received his Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. Fred was united in Holy Matrimony to Victoria Bucks Staten. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three brothers: Greenberry Harrison Staten III, James F. Staten and Henry A. Staten. Fred was an avid Alabama fan and loved watching all sports. Fred leaves to cherish his memory, two stepchildren: Missy Bucks Hoover of Logansport, OH and Corey Bucks of Indiana. Six sisters: Julia Simpson of Huntsville, Al, Deborah Elston of Anniston, Al, Lilly Staten, Martha Cox, Brenda May and Jeannene Vines all of Guntersville, Alabama, five brothers: Bobby (Deb) Staten of Albertville, Alabama, David (Ginger) Staten of Shelbyville, Ky, Kenneth (Dianne) Staten of Richland, NC, John Staten of Columbus, Ga., and Darryl Staten of Guntersville, Al., A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
