Fred Barnes age 87 of Sulligent, AL passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at his residence.

Born October 18, 1932 in Lamar County he is the son of the late Kelsie and Cora Lee Hollis Barnes and the husband of Faye Cole Barnes. He had lived in Crews all of his life and was a faithful member of the Beaverton Free Will Baptist Church. He was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent serving his Lord and church faithfully. He was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army. He was also a member of the Alabama National Guard and achieved the rank of SSG 6.

He is survived by his Wife, Faye Barnes, 2 Sons, Sidney (Mary) Barnes and Donald Barnes all of Sulligent, AL,

2 Grandchildren he affectionately called his Boy and Girl, Wade (Amanda) Barnes and Ashley (Trent) Upton, 7 Great Grandchildren he affectionately called Grandchildren, Coraleigh, Bennett and Beckett Barnes, and Chasidy and Hunter Upton, Natalie and Makenna Lucas,

A Brother, Dempsey (Grace) Barnes of Sulligent, AL.

He was preceded in death by a Daughter, Debra Ann Barnes and 6 Brothers, J.B., Richard, Sam, Jessie, Brooks and Kenneth Barnes.

Services held Monday, November 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Bro. Dwight Bailey and Bro. Howard McNeal and Bro. David Crowe officiating.

Visitation Monday 1 – 2 at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beaverton Free Will Baptist Church or the Piney Grove Cemetery Fund.
