Franklin McRight Blacklidge – Obituary

franklinFranklin McRight Blacklidge, 90, of Florence, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, June 11, 2015. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Frank was born in Pleasant Site, Ala. and lived the majority of his life in the Florence area. Frank was a disabled Navy veteran of WWII, Pacific Theatre. He served as a Seaman on the LSM6 and 129 ships in the South Pacific from 1943 – 1946. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion, Masonic Temple #503, as well as a member of the Electrical Union #852 in Corinth, MS, and UAW Union #255. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 28 years.

A graveside service will begin at 5 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Park with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Officiating will be Sonny Owens from Spring Valley Church of Christ.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, John Franklin Blacklidge and Millie Octavia McRight Blacklidge; brothers, Maurice Blacklidge and Kenneth Blacklidge.

He is survived by his wife, Frances L. Blacklidge; children, John F. Blacklidge (Karla), Cheryl Scillian (Bob); grandchildren, Callie Henderson, Alexandra Scillian, Victoria Scillian; great-grandchildren, Micah, and Maddox Henderson.

A heartfelt thank you to all that prayed, supported, visited, called, and provided encouragement during Frank’s illness. We continue to feel your love because it helped more than you will ever know.
