Funeral Services for Mr. Franklin Davis Young, age 91 of Ashland, will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Bro. Richie Farrow officiating. Burial will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Young passed away on September 7, 2024 at the Clay County Hospital. A lifelong resident of Clay County, he graduated from Clay County High School in 1951 where he served as SGA President and was a member of the basketball team. He served in the United States Coast Guard where he received the Good Conduct Award. Mr. Young worked for many years as the first plant manager for Swift Company, now known as Koch Foods, where he made many friendships that he has treasured throughout his life. There was nothing he liked more than to meet with someone from that time period of his life and talk about “the good old days”. Mr. Young eventually retired from the egg processing business and then turned his attention to gardening and raising cows, two things that he dearly loved. He also loved Clay County High School and Central High School football. Mr. Young was a faithful member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and had served many years as deacon there and also at First Baptist Church of Ashland. He truly loved his family, friends and church family.

He is survived by his wife, Merle Brooks Young of Ashland; one daughter, Vickie Herron (Kris) of Ashland; one son Jeff Young of Ashland; two grandchildren who he dearly loved, Lacy Moore (Brandon) and Hilton Young; one great granddaughter, Mallory Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stell and Exa Young and his brother Benton Young.

Active pallbearers will be Bob Allen, Garey Reynolds, Danny Horn, Jerry Phillips, Harold Saxon and Robert Fetner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Riddle, Johnny Upchurch, Steve Smith, and Steve and Dianne Giddens

His visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Olive Branch Baptist Church beginning at 9:30 A.M. until service time at 11:00 A.M.
