Frank Masterson Carpenter, 92, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at North Alabama Medical Center. Frank was retired from North Alabama Rehab Center. He was an active member of Glendale Church of Christ, a member of the Civitan Club working with the Cerebral Palsy Telethon and the Tennessee Valley Wood Carving Club. He was an Air Force Veteran from 1951-1954 serving in Germany for three years.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 12-2:00 p.m., at Glendale Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Ben Siegel and Willie Hamblen. Greenview Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Maude Carpenter; his first wife, Ollie Jean Haddock Carpenter; brother, Lynwood Carpenter, sister, Juanita Ligon, infant brother; nephew, Ray Carpenter.
He is survived by his current wife, Shirley Lindsey Carpenter; foster son, Gary Bentley (Gwen); nieces, Nancy Mitchell, Susan Hines, Anita Patrick, Margaret Moma, Nancy Wilson, Kathy Weitzman, Julie Hummel, and Sheila Miles; nephews, Mickey Haddock, Tim Haddock, Heyward Haddock, Frank Carpenter, Floyd Carpenter, and John Ligon; sister-in-law, Mae Fowlkes; foster grandchildren, Hunter and Rachel; step-grandchildren, Michelle Hudson (Tyler), Melissa Hester (Kellin), Ryan Andrews (Kayla); foster great grandchildren, Claire, Libby, and Rose; step-great grandchildren, Ethan, Makadyn, and Price; and special friend, Doris Jean Wood.
Frank enriched so many lives. He was a contributor to his community and his country.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Haddock, Tim Haddock, Ryan Andrews, Thomas Miles, Frank Carpenter, and Floyd Carpenter.
Honorary pallbearers are the men of Glendale Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital, or Lauderdale Christian Children’s Home.
