Frank Clair Musgrave III

Frank Clair Musgrave III, age 84, of Smyrna, Tennessee, formerly of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Frank was born September 17, 1940, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to the late Marie (Kerche) Hawkins Musgrave and Frank (Buddy) Musgrave. He was a Civil Engineer and a member of the Highland Heights Church of Christ in Smyrna and a lifelong member of Farmington Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Frank C. Musgrave IV; sister, Evelyn (Lyn) Musgrave; an infant granddaughter, Katie Marie Musgrave, and daughter-in-law Becky Musgrave.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janell McCormick Musgrave; son David Musgrave of Chattanooga; daughter Janet M. Kilpatrick of Eagleville; daughter-in-law Judy Musgrave (Dwayne Robinson) of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Frank C. (Nichole) Musgrave V, Davis (Amanda) Musgrave, Allison Musgrave, Jordan Wentzel, Sara Kilpatrick; eleven great grandchildren; brother Joel (Patty) Musgrave and sister Rosemary M. (Ray) Stacey.

Frank attended Marshall County schools through his junior year. He was an outstanding football player for the MCHS Tigers as well as Columbia Military Academy. He graduated from CMA in 1959 and received a full scholarship to play football for the University of Tennessee Volunteers. He graduated from UTK in 1964 and then pursued his career as a civil engineer in several cities and states until his retirement in 2007.

While they were living in Lewisburg, they attended Farmington Church of Christ where he was a lifelong member and served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. After they moved to Smyrna, they were members of the Highland Heights Church of Christ where he served as an elder for several years.

Frank enjoyed hiking and snow skiing for many years. He and his wife attended almost all of the home Lady Vols basketball games in Knoxville during the Pat Summitt era.

The family will be at the graveside at Temple Cemetery, 2401 Old Farmington Road, Lewisburg, TN, for visitation on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 10:00 am until the service at 11:00 am. All friends are welcome to attend the visitation and service.
