Frances “Pauline” Edens, 99, Sheffield, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, just seven months short of her 100th birthday. Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Bro. Davy Kincaid and Bro. Larry Smart officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Pauline was a lifelong resident of the Shoals and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She retired from Sears Department Store. Pauline volunteered at Helen Keller Hospital, logging over ten thousand hours. She enjoyed crocheting and making baby blankets for friends and family and making tea towels for gifts. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Scott Edens; son, John Leonard Edens; parents, Mary Bell and John Narmore; sister, Betty Narmore; and brother, Curtis Narmore.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Paula Lowery; sister, Peggy Thompson; grandchildren, Billy Stanfield, Jr. and Heather Heard; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Stanfield, Jr., Christian Stanfield, Liam Stanfield, Benny Thompson, Curtis Peters, and Aaron Hollaway. Larry Thompson and Tony Ellison will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family offers special thanks to the staffs at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home and Gentiva Hospice and to caregivers, Connie Stowe and Latricia “Sissy” Todd for the kind and loving care provided to Pauline.
