Frances Moore Holt, 68 of Florence left this world on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at ECM Hospital. She was born October 26, 1944 in Waynesboro, Tennessee but lived most of her life in Florence. She was the daughter of the late Buford and Annie Moore.
She was united in marriage to John Benjamin Holt on March 25, 1966. He preceded her in death December 12, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Infant Son and John Benjamin Holt II as well as 5 brothers: Lloyd Moore, Clyde Moore, Everett Moore, Norman Moore and Billy Moore.
Frances began her career as a legal secretary in Florence. She continued her career in Birmingham while her husband Ben attended law school. After moving back to Florence, she remained in the office with Ben and her brother-in-law Don. She then retired from the law office so she could devote her time to being a wife, mother and later a grandmother. All who knew her also knew of her garden. She was a master at tending, caring for and growing beautiful flowers. Much of her time spent in the garden was also spent with her special friend, Eric Strait.
She is survived by one grandson, Benjamin Holt III of Birmingham; one sister, Mavis Moore and one brother, Carl Moore and wife, Emma both of Florence; sisters-in-law, Nell Moore and Lorene Moore both of Cypress Inn, Tennessee, Evelyn Holt LaRue of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Rex Holt and wife Peggy of Alexandria, Virginia and loyal friend, Myra Galloway of Florence. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 7 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Greenview Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 8 at 1:30 PM at Greenview Memorial Chapel. Burial will immediately follow in the Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Verbon Vandiver of Tuscumbia, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Ralph Holt, Joel Pigg, Seth Galloway, Rickey Craig, Tim Gooch and Fred Emens.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
