Frances Lee Benfield, 89 of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on January 24, 2024. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Midway Memorial Gardens in Moulton with Steve Spray officiating.
Frances is survived by her three children Donna Maner (Mike), David Free and Doug Free (Carrie) of Decatur, AL. She has six grandchildren Blake Maner, Brooke Phillips (Jim), Kelsey Free (Zackary), Katie Free, William Free, and Jordyn Free. Additionally she has nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Benfield, infant son Richard Ford Free, and parents Garnett and Gladys Young.
She graduated from Decatur High School (class of 1952) and attended University of Montevallo to study Sociology. She was employed with Chemstrand and Central Bank. Frances found her greatest joy as a homemaker after her working career. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Decatur. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Limestone Nursing and Rehab Center in Athens, AL.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Blake Maner, Jake Maner, Jim Phillips, Harrison Phillips, and Will Free, honorary pallbearer will be Airman Samuel Phillips, US. Navy.
