Frances Evelyn Freeman Finley – Obituary

Frances Evelyn Freeman Finley was born Sept. 20, 1937, to the late Fred O. Freeman Sr., and Naoma Rogers Freeman. She went to be with the Lord on Oct. 28, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Fred O. Freeman Jr.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. She served as church clerk and on the mother’s board until her illness.
Frances graduated from Trenholm High School in 1955. She earned a bachelor’s and masters degree from Alabama A&M University and retired after teaching 32 years in Colbert County schools. After retirement, she worked 11 years with DHR of Colbert County.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Kristal Finley Key (Alexander), Florence, and Charlotte Finley of Muscle Shoals; four grandchildren, Haley Finley and Alik Key, Florence, Alexandria Key, Tuscaloosa, and Miyah Hampton, Muscle Shoals; two sisters, Chiquita Meade (Michael), Muscle Shoals, and Yolita Hooks (Herbert) Garland, Texas; one brother, Billy Freeman (Fannie), Tuscumbia; sister-in-law, Joyce E. Freeman; brother-in-law, William Finley Sr. (Emma); one daughter-like angel, Carol Ann Merritt, Muscle Shoals; one God daughter, Aasta Merritt James of Chicago, Ill.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home of Florence. Her homegoing service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at St. Paul M.B. Church of Tuscumbia with Pastor
Keeton Stewart and Rev. James McCoo officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul M.B. Church, 415 St. Paul Circle, Tuscumbia, AL, 35674.
The family is grateful to Amedisys Home Health and Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing/Rehabilitation, for their loving care.
