Former City of Tuscumbia employee indicted for murder

TUSCUMBIA-On. October 11, 2022 a Tuscumbia Police Department Sergeant Jay Steward allegedly hit and killed 60-year-old Terry Hinton. This incident was turned over to the Attorney General’s Office.  Police Chief Tony Logan released this statement concerning the accident:

“A former City of Tuscumbia employee Jay Steward has been indicted for murder related to a vehicle accident in October 2022 where a pedestrian was killed. Our thoughts prayers remain with family and friends of the person killed.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the office of the Attorney Generals Office Steve Marshall are handling investigation and prosecution of this case so I nor the City can comment further on the case until adjudication of the case.”
