SHEFFIELD  – The Ritz Theatre in downtown Sheffield, Alabama will host the American Patchwork Quartet in concert on Saturday, October 28th at 7:00pm. With a sound that blends jazz refinement, country twang, West African hypnotics, and East Asian ornaments, APQ creates a musical patchwork that celebrates both differences and commonalities, serving as a metaphor for a more inclusive nation.

The American Patchwork Quartet is composed of four musicians, founder Clay Ross (Ranky

Tanky), drummer Clarence Penn, violinist and vocalist Harini Raghavan, and bassist Noriatsu (Nori) Naraoka – all on a mission to reclaim the immigrant soul of American Roots Music.

With several Grammy awards among its members, the American Patchwork Ensemble brings together diverse backgrounds and talents to reimagine timeless songs from America’s past. By weaving together the music, stories, and experiences of many people, APQ creates a beautiful musical tapestry that draws connections between contemporary American culture and its immigrant roots.

“The repertoire was brought to life in brilliant new ways. It was sheer joy to sit and share this beautiful evening of inspired music with such a talented group of musicians. Our audiences loved it!” – Regan Byrne (The Forbes Center for the Performing Arts – Harrisonburg, VA)

Tiered seating is available for this event, with tickets starting at $30, $40, and $45. For more information about the Tennessee Valley Art Association, which runs the Ritz Theatre and the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, call 256-383-0533 or visit tennesseevalleyarts.org.
