Floyd Robert “Buster” Anderson Jr., 78, of New Hope, passed away Tuesday.
Floyd dedicated six years of service to the U.S. Army. He generously contributed his time and expertise as a volunteer at the Burritt Museum for a decade, leaving a lasting impact on the institution and its visitors. Additionally, for two decades, Floyd embodied the holiday spirit by carrying Santa Claus in the iconic Huntsville Christmas Parade. Alongside these endeavors, he invested significant time and effort into horse and animal rescue initiatives, demonstrating his compassion and dedication to the well-being of our four-legged friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Anderson, Sr., and Zell Anderson; sisters Lois Hilliard, Dorothy Hill, and Glenda Cambron; niece Jerri Leonard; and nephew Michael Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy Chumley Anderson, his daughters Stephanie (Buddy) Watkins and Tiffany (Lee) Latham, his grandchildren Joshua (Amanda) Kirby, Jacob (Rebecca) Kirby, Taylor Latham, and Will Latham, his stepgrandson Paul-Michael Williams, his great-grandchildren Ezra Kirby and Kiara Kirby, his sisters Gladys Hill, Mildred Thompson, and Mary Johnson, his brother Larry Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Their love and support have been a source of strength for Floyd and will continue to be for each other.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel.
The interment will be in Moon Cemetery.
