Floyd McCreary, 102, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North MS in Oxford. He was born October 25, 1920, to Jeff and Margaret Elizabeth McCreary. He earned a degree in Office Management from the Trades and Transportation Institute at Mississippi State University in 1949. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and member of West Booneville Church of Christ. He worked for Conwood Corporation, and after his retirement worked for UPS. Floyd and Arleana danced completitively, and won several trophies. He enjoyed reading the Bible, gardening, and spending time with his friends and family. He loved to listen to Corey sing. He loved his nieces and nephews, and his great-nieces and great-nephews as grandfather.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2022, at McMillan Funeral Home with Minister Ronnie Livingston officiating, and Kenny Bell delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
He is survived by four nieces, Janice Rutledge (caregiver), Linda Jackson, Pam Cole and Lafonda (Kenny) Bell; one niece-in-law, Sissie McCreary; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Arleana McCreary, his parents; four brothers, William Riley McCreary, James Wallace McCreary, Fred McCreary and Lester McCreary; sister-in-law, Leailla McCreary; nephew, Freddie McCreary; special nephew, Randle Jackson; great-nephew, James Matthew Lindsey; great-niece, Melinda Ann King.
Pallbearers are his great-nephews.
