Floyd Lamont Alexander, also known as “L”, passed away on February 5, 2024, at the tender age of 48 in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on July 2, 1975, in Killeen, Texas, Floyd was a caring son, a loving father, grandfather, and brother. He was a pillar in his community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Lamont gave his life to Christ at a very young age and loved God with all his heart. He worshipped at Full Gospel Church of Deliverance under Pastor James and Delois Jones, where his faith and foundation for the Lord began. He also attended Douglas Tabernacle under Pastor Elder Robert Rodgers and Pastor Dr. Mario Ford. Lamont also attended the Rock Family Worship Center and this is where he most recently celebrated life itself with worship, laughter, and understanding.
Our Lamont received his education at Westlawn Middle School and S.R. Butler High School. Lamont had a very successful athletic career playing football in high school. He was one of the youngest appointed team captains at Butler High School. Lamont was a well rounded player being featured in several local news paper articles. He also played running back and linebacker. After completing his education, Lamont served his country in the United States Army from 1993 to 1995. Following his military service, he also had a successful career as a manager at Rent-A-Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He also worked as a server at Olive Garden in Huntsville, Alabama along with many other food chain restaurants. Lamont had a passion for cooking and serving people was a gift that he was proud of.
In one of the largest camps in Northern Alabama Lamont was known as the “Honorary Mayor”. He could be seen holding a small bible study class from time to time in his community camp where he was loved by so many. Lamont would also hold the honor of doing the remembrance memorials for the ones who had passed away in the community camp. Lamont was a sincere advocate for the homeless community and a mastermind bicycle builder/repairman. He had one of the deepest passions for helping others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Lamont’s dedication to his hobbies and his commitment to making a difference in his community will always be remembered. Because of his love for life and the homeless community, he was able to touch many lives. He was the type of person that never met a stranger. He always had a smile on his face and loved putting a smile on other people’s faces even if it meant singing, dancing or just acting silly, but most of all, he would always find a way to help the ones in need. Lamont would give you his last even if his last was all he had to give.
Lamont is survived by his mother, Vera Alexander; father, Ronald Alexander; sister, Peronica Alexander; brother, Christopher Alexander; children: Kayjarnai Horton, Elijah Alexander, Lauren Alexander, Cicely Alexander; grandchildren, Karieyon Horton, La’Mirah Thomas, & LonTerrence Thomas. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Vera Ruth Mathis and Edna Earl Alexander; grandfathers Elmer Mathis and James Earl Alexander also cousin Elizabeth Maxwell.
The arrangements for Mr. Floyd Lamont Alexander will be 12:00 Noon, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at The Rock Family Worship Center (3401 Holmes Ave NW Huntsville AL 35816) with Pastor Steve Sharp officiating. Interment will be in the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace. Mr. Alexander will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
The Alexander family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Royal Chapel of Memories.
Public viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Royal Funeral Home.
