Floyd Harrell Crain, 94, of Ripley passed away peacefully at home Monday, July 17, 2023.

A native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, Crain graduated Ripley High School in 1948.  He graduated UT College of Pharmacy in 1951 and served in the US Army Medical Corp in the Korean War.

He established Crain’s Pharmacy in 1960.  He served in the Tennessee State Legislature representing Lauderdale and Haywood counties for 16 years.  He was President of the UT National Alumni Association, on the UT Board of Governors and the State Board of Pharmacy.  He served various positions in the Ripley Rotary Club and was a Shriner.  He has been a member of Ripley First United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

In addition to his family and his profession, he loved fishing, duck hunting and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Representative Crain is survived by his wife of 69 years Joann Biggs Crain, his 2 daughters Temple Crain Stevenson (Gary) of Brentwood and Ellen Crain Thomison (Jim) of Signal Mountain; grandchildren Sarah Temple Stevenson of Nashville and Samuel Stevenson (Jessi) and great-granddaughter Leah Mae Stevenson of Nolensville; 2 brothers Billy Crain of Halls, Neal Crain (Martha) of Ripley and brother-in-law Oliver Voss; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Steven B. Crain, brothers Bernice Crain, Lawson Crain, and Jerry Crain, sister Mary Ann Voss and parents Roy and Lillie Mae Crain.

Visitation will begin at 11 AM Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with funeral services to follow at 1 PM.  Interment will be in Ripley Memorial Gardens.  Garner Funeral Home of Ripley has charge of the services.
