Floyd Anderson Mansell, Jr Floyd Anderson Mansell, Jr., age 86, of Leighton, passed away on Saturday, October 07, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Mansell proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.  He was a Baptist minister for over 40 years and had worked at Alabama Limestone as well as other limestone companies and retired as a limestone planer.   He loved his wife, Martha dearly, appreciated the fact she was a good woman, and made sure he told her that he loved her every day.  He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and bragged on them to everyone he met.  He was a good man, who raised his children to be good citizens, to love and be kind, and always took them to church.  Bro. Mansell loved with his whole heart to everyone.  He was a huge Alabama fan, Roll Tide!

He was preceded in death his parents, Floyd Anderson & Ida Mae (Kilpatrick) Mansell; brothers, William Howard Mansell, Troy Jackson Mansell, Larry Gene Mansell, Donald Ray Mansell; and son-in-law, Ronald Fretwell.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 64 years, Martha Holden Mansell; children, Carol Fretwell, Karen Hatton (Elvin), Cathy Mansell, Matthew Mansell (Michelle); grandchildren, Andy Hines, Sarah Barton (Kevin), Tyler Fretwell (Caressa), Aymee Gandy (Brandon), Jakob Borden (Kesha), Paul Scott, Calen Mansell, Carys Mansell; great-grandchildren, Carter Fretwell, Camden Fretwell, Casen Fretwell, Rhett Gandy, Autumn Barton, Oliver Barton, Isaiah Hines, Drayven Borden, Cole Borden, Abby Scott, Noah Scott, Isaac Scott; sister-in-law, Debbie Mansell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 09, 2023, at Jonesboro Cemetery.  Bro. Garry Lovett will speak at the service.  Military honors to follow.

The pallbearers will be Andy Hines, Kevin Barton, Tyler Fretwell, Brandon Gandy, Matthew Mansell, and Jake Borden.  The honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice, and especially thank you to Bro. Garry Lovett for the time and conversations spent with Mr. Mansell.
