Flossie Townson, 90, of Guntersville, passed away Monday July 5th, 2021, at Barfield Health Care.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday July 8th, 2021, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.  Pastor Joey Croft will officiate.  Burial will follow afterwards at Marshall Memorial Gardens.

Flossie was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Townson; her son Ronald Townson; her daughter in law Elizabeth Townson; her parents Warner and Mae Jones; and several brothers and sisters.

Flossie was born in the Honeycomb, Grant area where she grew up with her brothers and sisters.  She met her husband in the 1950’s after he returned from serving our country in the Army.  They met when he went to Grant playing baseball and he immediately noticed the beautiful Flossie Jones.  After they married, they had 5 boys which made their family complete.  They were married for nearly 40 years before his passing in 1987.

Mrs. Townson provided for her family by working in nursing homes in the area providing care for the elderly.  She also helped her family working on the farm.

Flossie was known for her beautiful quilts that she made for her family.  It was a family tradition from the Jones side and her family loved it when they received her gorgeous quilts.

In her later years, she started watching the Atlanta Braves and became an avid Braves fan.  She loved cheering her baseball team on to wins.

Flossie is survived by her sons:  Charles Townson and his wife Janet; Jimmy Townson; Kenneth Townson and Beth Townson; Gary Townson and his wife Kelly. Grandchildren:  Matthew Townson; Brad Townson; Ian Townson; Colby Townson; and Alyssa Townson. Great-grandchildren:  Triston Townson and Carson Townson; her siblings:  Clyde Jones. Bobby Jones, Louise Beard and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday July 7th, 2021, at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.
