Florene Garrett – Obituary

Florene Garrett, 85, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at her daughter’s house surrounded by her family. She was born January 30, 1934 in Hamilton, AL to Rufus and Tiny Simmons. She worked many years in the garment industry as a seamstress. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed puzzles, seek-a-word books and loved being with family and friends.

Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10 – 11 Wednesday. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

She is survived by her children, Linda D. Spencer of Nettleton, Michael J. Spencer and Mark E. Spencer (Rose) of Shannon; 2 sisters, Francis Carter of Alabaster, AL and Betty Karr of Hoover, AL; 7 grandchildren, Chris Spencer, Jason Spencer, Belinda Hendrix (Chad), Kayla Neal, Justin Edwards, Austin Edwards and Tiffany Marion; 13, great-grandchildren, Allen, Nick, Angel, Brittany, Emma, Eli, Jaxson, MJ, Noah, Alex, Lyrik, Shaylynn and Evelynn; 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Grady and James Simmons, her first husband, Oscar Spencer, Jr. and her second husband, Ronald Garrett.
