FLORENCE – In an effort to consolidate high school students onto one large campus, Florence City Schools recently announced the construction of a new facility. The new Freshman Center will be built near the existing Florence High School on Bradshaw Drive.

It will be a state-of-the-art facility, designed to give incoming freshmen the best introduction to the rigors of high school life possible. The building will be approximately 40-thousand square feet and will support 500 students. The footprint of the Freshman Center will be near the Career Tech end of the campus, closest to Darby Drive. Estimated construction cost is $6-million.

The project is slated to begin as soon as plans are approved by the Alabama Building Commission, and construction bids are submitted and approved.
