Florence Police Working Two Separate Assault Cases From Wednesday Night

assault-charges-300x168FLORENCE-On Wednesday, October 26 the Florence Police Department responded to two separate assault cases involving the use of a knife as a weapon.  Here is what we know from a statement released by the Florence Police Department:

“The first occurred at 10:30 last night. Officers responded to a medical assist near the intersection of Hermitage Dr. and Royal Ave. When they arrived they were told that a male had been transported by personal vehicle to ECM hospital after suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, a 27-year-old black male, stated that he was in the parking lot of Texaco when he was approached by a man asking for money. During his interaction with the suspect, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times. The victim was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital. The suspect is described as a white male, 5’-08”, last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and tan pants. No additional information is available at this time.

The second incident occurred in the 100 block of Indiana Ave at 2:30 clemmonsam this morning. In this case officers responded to an assault call with a knife. Officers arrived to find the victim, a 37-year-old white male, had been stabbed in the abdomen. Officers determined that an argument had occurred between the victim and Ronald Clemmons. During the argument, Clemmons produced a knife and stabbed the victim. The victim was treated for his injuries at ECM. His status is not available at this time. Detectives responded to the scene and Clemmons was arrested following an investigation into the offense.
Clemmons is currently being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center.”
