Retired Florence Police K-9 “Kirk”
FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department honored one of their own today. Here is what the FPD has to say :
“Retired Florence Police K-9 “Kirk”, passed away from natural causes February 24, 2015. He proudly served the citizens of Florence from 2007 to 2012. During his tenure with our department Kirk was deployed over 600 times in the line of duty. Kirk was responsible for more than 100 criminal apprehensions. His efforts resulted in the seizure of over $200,000 dollars in illegal narcotics, money, and property seizures. He was responsible for locating hundreds of pieces of evidence used in the prosecution of suspects of criminal activity. K-9 Kirk was a tremendous asset to the department and the community. He was handled by Officer Wes Gargis. We are thankful for Kirk’s never ending desire to assist officers, his excitment for locating illegal contraband, and the safety he provided us in dangerous situations. Thank you Kirk for your Service.”
