FLORENCE – Early this morning, as reported by the Quad-Cities Daily, four brave Florence Police Officers risked their own safety to rescue an unconscious man from his smoke-filled residence. The incident on Sannoner Avenue happened around 1 o’clock. The Police and Florence Fire Rescue responded to the call of a structure fire. The 2 police cars got to the scene first, and were told by a resident of the house that a man had run back inside to bring his dogs out to safety, but had not exited the building.

Worried for the man’s safety, the Officers didn’t wait for Fire Rescue, but instead ran headlong into the house, themselves fighting dense, black smoke and managed to bring the stricken man outside to safety.
