FLORENCE-Police Officer Jeff Redcross from the Florence Police Department responded to a house fire call. The officer saw an unresponsive female victim.  He proceeded to administer CPR.

Here is the statement from the Florence Police  detailing the officer’s actions:

“At approximately 10:30 pm last night, Florence Police Officer Jeff Redcross responded to 1813 Hickory Ave. in regards to a structure fire. Upon arrival, Ofc. Redcross did not immediately see any signs of a fire. However, he approached the house to investigate further and found an unresponsive female laying in the doorway clutching a cell phone in her hand. He then drug her into the front yard and began CPR. He was immediately assisted by Florence Firemen Jamie Kirby and Jay Gibson in administering CPR. At this point, it looked probable the female was deceased or soon to be. Ultimately, the female was shocked with an AED twice and showed slight breathing and a weak pulse. She was taken to ECM where she was later listed as Critical/Stable. Had it not been for Ofc. Redcross’ quick response and immediate action to begin CPR, the female would likely have died. It was determined she called 911 to report the fire and lost consciousness trying to flee. Outstanding work by Ofc. Redcross and Firemen Kirby and Gibson!!”
