FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department responded to a shots fired call on Monday, February 26. According to authorities the victim was shot twice in the back with “bird shot.” He was taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, where authorities say he is being treated for non-life-threatening injures. Florence Police released a statement concerning the incident where two suspect have been arrested:
“Florence Police received a call of shots fired around 10:00 a.m. in the 2200 block of Maple Avenue. Officers learned that three individual got into an altercation in the middle of the street. One individual was taken to ECM with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. It was reported that the two suspects went inside 2250 Maple Avenue and were armed with a shotgun.
During the course of the investigation, detectives secured a search warrant for 2256 Maple Avenue for evidence of the shooting. Florence Lauderdale SWAT assisted with securing the residence before detectives conducted the search.
We would like to thank the residents of Maple Avenue for their patience during this incident. Two suspects were taken into custody and charged with Assault 2nd Degree.”
