FLORENCE-On Saturday, 10/7/2023, at approximately 3 PM, Officers responded to the 1900 block of Holiday Drive to a domestic violence call. The complainant advised she, and her boyfriend had gotten into a fight. The boyfriend, Christopher Borquez had left with their child.
Borquez returned to the residence with the child while an officer was on scene. Borquez was ordered out of the car and he
exited the vehicle holding the child. Borquez then told the officer he would have to shoot him. Borquez held the child as a
shield between himself and the officer. The officer was able to talk Borquez into releasing the child.
The officer then attempted to lead Borquez away from the child and he jerked away and repeated the officer would have to shoot him. The officer then attempted to cuff him and again he resisted. Backup officers arrived and after a brief
struggle they were able to take him into custody.
After further investigation, Borquez was charged with Domestic Violence Strangulation, Endangering the Welfare of a Child,
Public Intoxication, Interference with a Domestic Violence Emergency Call, and Resisting Arrest.
Christopher Borquez, of Florence, is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $35,900 bond.
