FLORENCE-On Tuesday, January 14 the Florence Police Department released a statement on the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with Robbery 1st:
On January 14, 2020, at approximately 1:45 am, officers with the Florence Police Department responded to the area of North Court Street to a reported Robbery.
Upon arriving in the area officers located a male who stated that he was leaving a business on North Court Street when he was approached by a male asking for money. The male stated that he willingly gave the male three (3) dollars. The victim in this case told officers that the suspect was not satisfied with money and brandished a knife and demanded more money. The victim refused and the male fled.
Using the description provided by the victim, responding officers located Dustin James Burns, 29, a short distance for the crime. The victim identified Burns as the offender. Officers arrested Burns and recovered both a knife and three (3) dollars from his person.
He was subsequently charged with Robbery in the 1st degree and transported, without incident, to the Lauderdale County Detention Center where he is currently being held on bond totaling $60,000.00
The victim in this case was not injured.
