Florence Police Arrest Man On 385 Counts of Possession Of Obscene Matter of Persons Under The Age Of 17

FLORENCE-In October 12, 2023, the Florence Police Department executed a search warrant at Copper Creek Apartments, in Florence, AL 35630. The search warrant stemmed from a child exploitation case being investigated by Florence Police Investigators and Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. While serving the search warrant, Joseph Luna was identified as the suspect in the case.
Multiple pieces of electronic evidence were seized from the scene. These electronics were forensically examined for

evidence of child exploitation. During the examination of the evidence hundreds of files containing obscene matter, containing visual depictions of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts were located. The case was presented to a Lauderdale County Grand Jury on July 15, 2024. The grand jury indicted Luna on three hundred and eighty-five (385) counts of Possession of obscene matter containing visual depiction of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts (13A-12-192).

On July 22, 2024, Officers with the Florence Police Department’s COPS Unit, who were assisted by Officers with the Muscle Shoals Police Department, arrested Joseph Luna at an apartment in Muscle Shoals. He was served his indictment and was transported to the Lauderdale County Detention Center, where he was released on a $50,000 bond.
