FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a statement concerning the arrest of a Florence man on felony charges of Child Pornography and as well as Production Of Obscene Matter involving a person under 17
“On November 21, 2022, the Florence Police Department received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the possible presence and sharing of child pornography from a source in Florence Alabama. With that information, Detectives began an investigation and were able to identify the juvenile victim. We were also able to gain information to support a request for a search warrant for Steven Canaday’s home in Florence. This morning, November 23, 2022, Florence Police Detectives executed that search warrant, located evidence and arrested Canaday for the following offenses:
- 25 counts of Possession and possession with intent to disseminate obscene matter containing visual depiction of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts (13A-12-192)
- 25 counts of Dissemination or public display of obscene matter containing visual depiction of persons under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts (13A-12-191)
- 5 counts of Production of obscene matter containing visual depiction of person under 17 years of age involved in obscene acts (13A-12-197)
Steven Wayne Canaday, 9/26/1960, is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $1,625,000 bond. The Florence Police Department would like to thank the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency for their help with this case.
