Earlier this morning a Florence Police Investigator responded to Hibbett School on a Child Abuse case.
According to Florence Police, an 11 year old girl reported that she was assaulted by her step-father. Investigators say the girl reported that she was hit in the head, picked up by the neck, and thrown to the ground by Eric Alexander, 36 of Florence. Investigators state the girl said Alexander assaulted her because she didn’t want to go to school this morning.
Around 11:30 a.m. today, Officers and Investigators responded to Foy Ave to make an arrest. Alexander jumped out a window and fled on foot. As he was climbing a fence, a police K9 grabbed him on the leg. He was able to break free and kick the dog. Alexander was apprehended several blocks away near the soccer fields on Chisholm Road.
Charges against Eric Alexander include Willful Abuse of a Child under 18, Harassing a Police K9, Attempting to Elude, DV Strangulation, and an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear;
