FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a statement regarding the assault that took place on Monday, April 2 :
“Florence Police Department responded to a call at the Chevron gas station at approximately 6:45 pm on April 2, 2018. When officers arrived they found a black male, Anthony Coleman, laying in the parking lot with injuries to his head.
Witnesses’ stated a that Coleman and another black male, Khadedryck Todd, were inside the gas station and started arguing. Both subject left the store and a physical altercation started in the parking lot. Mr. Todd then hit Mr. Colman in the head knocking him to the ground. Mr. Todd then went to his vehicle to leave. He then returned to where Mr. Colman was laying and started hitting him in the head again.
Due to the injuries observed by EMS Mr. Coleman was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Coleman’s condition is critical and is in the ICU.
Mr. Todd has been charged with Assault 1st and is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Center.”
