FLORENCE-On Friday, April 9 a Florence man was arrested and thousands of dollars in drugs were taken after Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Drug Task Force issued a search warrant.
ALEA’s Region E Drug Task Force had been working a lengthy investigation into James Tristan Lee Sanders, 24. According to the Task Force complaints had been made by several sources that drug trafficking was taking place in an apartment near Cox Creek Parkway.
During their search authorities seized nearly three grams of methamphetamine, multiple controlled drug prescriptions, almost two pounds of marijuana, several guns and over $19,000 in cash.
Through the investigation the ALEA Drug Task Force uncovered that several packages had been shipped to a home in Killen in connection with this operation and Sanders. Authorities say the packages were removed from the home and dumped nearby. DTF Agents recovered the packages and have confirmed they contained approximately 2.25 pounds of heroin and what appeared to be almost 10,00 Xanax pills.
According to the ALEA the heroin had a street value of $50,000 and would have rendered almost 1,00 doses. The pills had a street value of around $30,000 with the marijuana being worth $3,000 on the street.
James Tristan Lee Sanders, 24 of Florence, was arrested on Drug Trafficking warrants in Colbert County and taken to the Colbert County Jail. Authorities say addition charges are expected to be filed shortly in Lauderdale County against Sanders.
