FLORENCE-A press conference was held at the Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Office on Wednesday, May 8 to emphasize the importance of a safe destination as essential to having a thriving hospitality industry. According to Alison Stanfield, Director of Operations for Florence/Lauderdale Tourism, many visitors seek out assistance from first responders and Florence/Lauderdale Tourism wanted to let the Florence Police and Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department know just how much they are needed and to arm and get them fired up to be Tourism Responders.
Law Enforcement officials were on hand to discuss their training and philosophy of taking care of out-of-town visitors. Police Chief Ron Tyler and Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton talked to the crowd about the importance of being on the frontline of Tourism in our area.
After the press conference refreshments were provided by the Tourism Office and catered by 306 Barbeque. Stanfield also said to help with thanking our first responders during Police Appreciation Week through the month of May law enforcement officers are encouraged to visit the Visitor’s Center and look around and become acquainted with all the Shoals has to offer as well as enter their name in drawings for prizes throughout the month.
