FLORENCE-The Florence-Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has officially
launched a new electric bike (eBike) rental service out of their McFarland Park location.

Beginning with six (6) new eBikes, rentals will be available during visitor center hours, Monday
through Friday, 8:45am to 4:30pm, and Saturday from 10:30am to 3:30pm. The bikes are the
Electra Cruiser Go! models and each are pedal-assisted to make inclines and trails easier to
handle.

Rob Carnegie, president & CEO, with the Florence-Lauderdale CVB, said that the City of
Florence (Parks & Recreation division) has a comprehensive masterplan for connectivity in the
Florence area. “Cycling in The Shoals area is one of the best ways to experience our
destination and we have several spots which have miles of trails that can be enjoyed,” said
Carnegie. “Our hope is that this will only heighten the interest for cycling in the area and
provide visitors with new experiences to stay longer.”

Carnegie stated that both the CVB and the Parks department would be working together over
the next year on grants which would assist with funding to support the City’s masterplan. For
now, cyclists can enjoy the TVA Reservation, Wildwood Park, McFarland Park and the new
River Heritage Trail. An app will also be available for trails in the area through Trail Forks.

Plans are currently in the works for more signage in McFarland Park which would lead cyclists
on a designated trail. The CVB will also offer limited service for transportation to the TVA
Reservation for those who want to begin and end their cycling at that location.

eBike rentals are based on full-day ($80), half-day ($60) and hourly rates ($20).

More details on the rental program can be found at www.theshoalsal.com and you can make
reservations by calling the visitor center at (256) 740-4141.
