FLORENCE-During the June 9, 2020 meeting of the Florence City Schools Board of Education, a revised student calendar for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year was adopted. The new start date for students of Florence City Schools will be August 20, 2020.
School systems across the state have been urged to delay their student start date by the Alabama State Department of Education and State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey. This delay in bringing students back to campuses will give our teachers and staff extra time to prepare for the fall semester.
Florence City Schools makes it a point to keep our family members in mind when decisions are made. As we get additional guidance from the ALSDE and Dr. Mackey, we will be able to provide more information about the start of schools on August 20th.
