FLORENCE-On Tuesday, July 7 during the regular city council meeting the City of Florence was the first in the Quad Cities area to make wearing a mask mandatory in all city buildings. The vote to wear masks was a unanimous vote by the council.
This order applies to all city owned buildings and is a must for both employees and anyone entering the building. City attorney Bill Musgrove said the order goes into effect immediately and will stay in effect until the council votes otherwise.
City employees must wear masks when interacting with the public but they are not required to wear a mask when they are alone in their offices. Other city owned buildings that do not give access to the public are not under the requirement to wear a mask.
The mayor said masks are available at locations where masks will be required. he also stated that city employees will make it clear that mask are required for entrance with the exception of medical conditions.
