Florence Child Dies In Forklift Accident

MUSCLE SHOALS-According to Muscle Shoals Police on Saturday, December 18 the Muscle Shoals Police answered a call about an accident involving juveniles.  Investigators  say the children were with their parents job on Boone Road in the TVA reservation.

According to the investigation two of the children left  unbeknownst to their parents to play inside a warehouse.  The children found a forklift and were playing on the forklift.  The older of the two children was operating the forklift when the younger child fell off and died from injuries, according to authorities.

After an investigation it was determined the incident was an accident.  The child’s body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences due to the age of the child.  According to the Muscle Shoals Police the autopsy supported the investigation results.

The Department of Human Resources was called due to the involvement of children.  Their investigation considered closed at this time.

Statement from Florence City Schools:

Florence City Schools has suffered a heartbreaking loss; we’ve learned that a Harlan Elementary School student died over the weekend in a tragic accident in Muscle Shoals. The Muscle Shoals Police Department is investigating and can answer further questions.
At this time, the child’s identity is not being released out of respect for the family. ~ JEREMY JACKSON
