FLORENCE-Mayor Andy Betterton, Florence City Council, and the Florence Downtown Alliance are excited to announce the opening of the Tombigbee Public Parking Deck, located at the corner of Pine Street and Tombigbee Street, on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 8:00 AM.
The new six-level parking facility offers additional downtown parking, providing 273 spaces for automobiles and 23 spaces for bicycles. It will operate cashlessly; patrons can pay by card at the exit after reinserting the ticket. Parking rates align with on-street parking set at $0.50 per hour, with a maximum daily rate of $4.
As a nod to the holiday season and in support of local businesses, the existing parking deck on Tennessee Street will remain open free of charge until January 1, 2025, providing extra parking for downtown visitors, shoppers, and business owners.
The facility is equipped with security cameras, and parking attendants will be on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM to assist patrons. Additionally, a 24-hour assistance button is available within the deck to connect users by phone with a representative.
Mayor Andy Betterton expressed his enthusiasm for the new facility, stating, “The Tombigbee Public Parking Deck is a valuable addition to our city’s infrastructure, enhancing accessibility to our vibrant downtown. This project reflects Florence’s commitment to growth and to creating a safe, convenient environment for residents and visitors. We look forward to seeing our community utilize the new parking resource, especially as we enter the holiday season.” The City of Florence encourages everyone to support local businesses all year, especially during this holiday season.
